The World Stroke Organization was approached by conversational media company In The Room earlier this year through the work we had done with WHO to support the development of the meaningful engagement of people with lived experience agenda. In The Room's software platform creates interactive conversational experiences, bringing global audiences closer to a 1:1 encounter with the stories and knowledge of unique people.
In The Room wanted to pilot a project with us that gave access to a story of stroke – allowing people to ask questions to someone who had a stroke, whether they shared this experience, were a family member of a stroke survivor, a health professional or member of the public.
It is hoped that this enables a unique and engaging way for people to connect with someone affected by stroke, gain insight, a feeling of community, inspiration and knowledge.
We approached Stacie Broek, a member of the Campaign Committee, who had a stroke in 2019, to share her story. This project is Stacie's. Her enthusiasm and commitment to sharing her story to help others was inspiring. We want to thank Stacie for the time, emotion and energy she gave to this project.
We'll be going live with the conversation on Monday 9th October to coincide with the World Stroke Congress. If you'll be in Toronto please come along to the WSO stand where you'll be able to try out the conversation.
And over to Stacie for her thoughts on the project, why she got involved and the power of shared experiences.......
