After experiencing a stroke in 2019, Monaco resident Steven Saltzman wanted to promote information, prevention, treatment, and support for patients and families in Monaco. Steven knew he could use his professional experience of connecting people and making things happen to build Monaco AVC.
In November 2021 Steven’s ambition was realised and Monaco AVC (Accident Vasculaire Cérébrale), the Monaco Stroke Association was registered.
"Whatever the Monaco AVC Association may mean to me, to Monaco it will be known by the results it achieves, and by statements from patients we may have informed, supported, or helped," says Steven
The aims of Monaco AVC are to:
A priority of Monaco AVC is to build its membership, including people affected by stroke as well as professionals from diverse backgrounds, with knowledge in prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. In addition, volunteers and donors are needed to help support the association to continue the good work.
Monaco AVC works in collaboration with the Department of Social Affairs and Health, general practitioners and cardiologists, as well as the doctors at the CHPG hospital, Thoracic clinic, CHU in Nice, emergencies, and health services in Monaco. This truly is about collaboration to increase awareness and support in Monaco.
