We, at World Stroke Organization (WSO) as an apex global body committed to improve outcomes for Stroke, ensuring timely access to stroke care; thus optimizing their survival and recovery.
Working towards the same; WSO endorsed the Angels Initiative to be part in delivering international standard of quality care in treatment of Stroke & strengthen the overall integrated system of stroke care.
Angels Initiative aligns with the mission and vision of WSO to reduce stroke burden globally. To elevate the standards in treatment of stroke, continuous quality monitoring plays an important role.
Quality Monitoring is the eminent enabler of our goal. ResQ registry & SITS QR as our data tools of choice to Support collection of data and measuring quality improvements, helping to benchmark progress and identify points of improvement at various levels.
In 2019 Quality Monitoring for stroke was introduced via Angels Initiative in India. Since then, many hospitals in India have been recognized on global scale for their achieved level of Quality standards. In a timespan of mere 4 years India has demonstrated exceptional positive improvement in treatment of stroke and managing its burden at local, regional and national levels that is evident in the abundance of Hospitals achieving WSO-Angels Awards.
Fast-forward to present scenario- India received 74 awards in 2022; ranking 3rd globally in number of awards received by centers as mentioned in the WSO Annual report 2022.
I extend my congratulations and regards to all hospitals and their principal investigators for being pivotal in enabling an international standard of quality care in their respective centers. Though WSO is the guiding body - the ground enablers are the hospital teams, working round the clock towards a common goal- saving lives of stroke patients and improving their recovery.
I’m confident with the motivation, dedication and pace acquired by the hospitals along with Angels Initiative in India, signaling our goal is around the corner.
