Open call for nominations and applications to the WSO leadership development programme.
With a focus on LMIC participation, the two- year WSO Future Stroke Leaders program will equip a global cohort of early career clinicians and researchers with an in-depth understanding of key challenges in relation to stroke and how these can be addressed within diverse stroke care systems. A five-day program of educational and interactive workshops, running from the 25-29th October*, will be followed by seed funded practical project delivery supported by WSO mentors culminating in the presentation of results and key learning at the World Stroke Congress in Singapore 2022.
Future Stroke Leaders lead and WSO Past President Prof Werner Hacke said ‘This is an exciting programme that builds on the WSO’s commitment to delivering a diverse community of stroke specialists, equipped with the broad ranging leadership, clinical, research and advocacy skills that are needed to drive the transformation of stroke care’.
The theme of the 2020 intake is “Implementation of Quality Stroke Care’. The curriculum, developed and delivered by the WSO faculty, will span the stroke care continuum from prevention, acute treatment, post-stroke care through to rehabilitation and will support the development and exercise of key skills including research and peer review, writing for publication, care quality improvement tools, multidisciplinary collaboration, project design and management, and stroke advocacy.
Those interested in being part of the Future Stroke Leaders program are asked to provide a one-page letter outlining their expectations and motivation for participation, a short biographical note and a recent photograph. The application should also include a short letter from the institution, organization or department where the candidate works confirming their support and commitment to providing the time needed to participate in the program.
Successful applicants will be informed by June 20th and will be provided with preparatory reading materials and curated World Stroke Academy resources which they are expected to have read and completed in advance of the October workshop.
Please send applications to admin@world-stroke.org by 31th May.
*Location of the workshop to be confirmed, contingent upon the path of the current COVID19 outbreak.
