In February 2019, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, a WSO society member, released a really important and provocative report.
This report examined the interconnections between heart conditions, stroke and vascular cognitive impairment. The organization studied hospitalization administrative data, population mortality statistics, the research literature and spoke with hundreds of people with lived experience. It urges systems of care to move to more integrated models to reduce burden of all these conditions, as prevention efforts have multiple benefits.
A downloadable version of the report could be found here. An interactive version of the report could be found here.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada have also created a new data visualization of the report and some of the key findings. These can be accessed here: Data Hub (interactive data visualization) and Working with your doctor conversation guide
