Fans attending the game were invited to identify their top priorities for stroke prevention, with most choosing increased physically activity as their personal prevention goal. The timing of the event was perfect to encourage local participation in the World Stoke Campaign #GreaterThan Global Challenge which launches on Oct 1st. The Challenge is asking everyone to commit to increasing their physical activity in October and contribute their exercise minutes to a global total that will be announced after World Stroke Day.
The World Stroke Day #GreaterThan campaign video was shown on the huge stadium screens and shared a message that by coming together and acting on prevention, we can all improve our odds against stroke. The CEO of PSSH sporting a Steelers' jersey with the number 1029 to signify World Stroke Day showed his support for the Campaign and his local team, while the match day crowd received wristlets with the #GreaterThan Stroke hashtag.
Pohang Stroke and Spine Hospital are now actively promoting the #GreaterThan Global Challenge, with a local prize draw that gives Challenge participants a chance to win sports clothes and running shoes.
At the end of the match the Pohang Steelers stole victory with an exciting last minute goal, but it was the impressive teeamwork off the pitch that delivered a win against stroke.
