Now that the World Stroke Day disco glitter ball has stopped spinning, the Campaign team is reaching out to WSO members asking them put on their dancing shoes again to help raise awareness of stroke symptoms and the need to act FAST.
The urgent request is in response to the on-going impact of the COVID19 pandemic and public anxieties around attending hospital even for medical emergencies including stroke. The #StrokeDontStayAtHome campaign, which was originally launched in May 2020 in response to significant drops in stroke admissions around the world, has a simple message that more than ever it is essential for everyone to know the signs of stroke and if stroke is suspected, call an ambulance.
With a global resurgence in virus infections, we are redoubling our efforts to ensure that people continue to seek treatment for stroke. We are working with partners to develop a toolkit, including a series of suggested social media posts, that WSO members can use in support of the campaign. All resources will be added to a Dropbox folder with will be shared with members very soon – look out for it in your inbox.
