This year the World Stroke Organization is calling on our members, partners, and stakeholders around the world to come together on October 29th to share key messages on stroke prevention and to take action that will help individuals to understand, identify and address stroke risks that are not only associated with highest risk of stroke, but that are also easily managed.
Launching the new campaign, World Stroke Campaign Co-Chair Dr Deidre De Silva from Singapore said ‘#GreaterThan provides a positive message on stroke prevention. There is a role for everyone when it comes to tackling stroke and that taking action is what will make the difference. Whether we are talking about government policy decisions, making services more accessible, community health worker education, or just the daily choices we make as individuals . Our campaign highlights that there are many opportunities to reduce the risk of stroke.'
Colombian Campaign Co-Chair, Dr Ángel Corredor continued ‘Our goal is for World Stroke Day - and for our year round campaign - to go beyond our usual audience, to go beyond awareness and to provide a global moment that shows the huge impact we can have on people’s lives. We know that our growing committed and creative network will rise to the challenge and show that when we act together, we can be #GreaterThan stroke.’
Coming soon! Tools and resources to support campaign planning and implementation
- Campaign toolkit for members – By the end of June WSO members will have access to a World Stroke Day Dropbox folder with resources to help you plan, adapt and implement the campaign. The toolkit will include logos, posters, photos, social media and digital assets and will be your ‘one stop shop’ for #GreaterThan campaign resources. In coming weeks and months expect to find presentation decks, template letters video content and template press releases to help you bring the campaign alive with your audiences.
- Webinars – from June to September we will be delivering a series of webinars to help members, partners and the wider stroke community learn more about the campaign and get tips and advice on implementation of campaign calls to action.
- Regional coordination – the Campaign Committee is working to ensure that WSO members and the wider stroke community have a regional/community specific point of contact to support engagement and collaboration with the campaign. We’ll be sharing our regional guide soon!
- Website – we’ll be overhauling the World Stroke Campaign website to make our communication themes more visible and accessible to the public.
