Heart to Heart Foundation, Bulgaria
In 2019, we welcome brand new stroke support organisation (SSO) member, Heart to Heart Foundation, Bulgaria. Registered as a non-profit in 2017, its main goals are to prevent cardiovascular diseases and to inform the population about prevention and access to treatment. Through training programs and community-based activities, Heart to Heart Foundation will contribute to the development of a national network for prevention, health care and stroke awareness. The SSO engages volunteers, healthcare professionals and doctors to reach more people across the country in need of care related to stroke treatment and prevention.
On World Stroke Day 2018, Heart to Heart Foundation organized a large campaign for free blood pressure measurement and registration of atrial fibrillation. In 2019, the SSO will organize national campaigns to screen for blood pressure, atrial fibrillation and metabolic syndrome. There will also be a major national project for medical education of young people about stroke risk factors and recognition of the signs.
