Following the Global NCD Alliance meeting held in Kigali, we had a productive call with Ministerial representatives from Rwanda. We are optimistic about signing an MOU with them to develop a hub-and-spoke model of stroke care. This month, we also anticipate fruitful discussions with health department representatives from Seychelles.
Representing WSO, I participated in the annual ASKAN meeting in Seoul, which brought together stroke professionals from South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The event featured an engaging roundtable discussion, where participants collaboratively identified gaps in stroke care for each country. An action plan was drafted to address these gaps and enhance stroke care not only at the national level but across the region.
Preparations for the WSO Global Stroke Alliance meeting are well underway. We aim to invite ministerial delegations and healthcare professionals from 33 Western Pacific island countries. Notably, the Global Stroke Action Coalition will be officially launched on April 9th.
Furthermore, the new WSO Stroke Center Certification portal is set to go live in April, providing centers with the opportunity to apply and attain certification.
