My term as president of the WSO will be over during the upcoming World Stroke Congress. It has been and honor and a privilege to hold this prestigious office. I would like to thank all of the members of the executive committee and board of directors for their help over the past two years.
My term was made unique by the COVID-19 pandemic which affected many aspects of how the WSO functioned. We had to have our executive committee meetings and board meetings virtually and the past two World Stroke Congresses had to be virtual. Despite these challenges the organization has continued to thrive and grow. I would also like to especially thank our dedicated staff for all of their help during the past two years. Mia Grupper is an incredible resource for the WSO and is the engine that drives the organization in many ways. I am turning the organization over to the capable hands of Sheila Martins who will succeed me as president. I am sure under her leadership the WSO will continue to flourish and achieve a great deal to improve stroke care and awareness around the world.
