The Campaign Committee has committed to a more structured approach to year-round stroke awareness campaigning. There will be quarterly campaigns that support a year round conversation around stroke and that provide opportunities for the global stroke community to work together to raise awareness of those parts of the care continuum that don't get highlighted as part of the WSO World Stroke Day campaign.
Our Quarter 1 Campaign (Jan-March 2024) will focus on Life After Stroke, we will be
- Addressing the stigma around stroke that exists for survivors and caregivers.
- Highlighting the importance and impact of long term support for survivors and caregivers
- Raising awareness of the impact of stroke and ways in which we can provide support as individuals.
- Promoting the WSO Global Stroke Bill of Rights as a patient and caregiver-led advocacy tool.
- Advocating for the meaningful engagement of people with lived experience of stroke.
For April-June we will be focused on acute stroke care, leveraging opportunities around the World Health Assembly and the launch of the WHO paper on Acute Coronary Syndrome and Stroke. July to September will see a return to the #Precioustime theme and awareness of stroke symptoms. From October to December we will return to the #GreaterThan prevention focused campaign in the run up to World Stroke Day on 29th.
We will be sharing an update on key calls to action how to prepare for World Stroke Day in March/April 2024 - watch this space!
