Dear Colleagues, partners and friends,
The World Stroke Organization is marking its15th anniversary this month. While the world continues to face an unprecedented global health crisis, we are mindful that it is not a time for celebration. However, perhaps now more than ever it is valuable for us to reflect on our past, and more importantly, to focus on the organization’s future.
Our progress over the last 15 years came with great effort, resulting in WSO being recognized as the only global body solely focused on stroke. With around 3000 individual and 90 society members spanning every global region, we represent over 55,000 stroke specialists in clinical, research and community settings.
WSO’s education, advocacy and awareness programs were all developed and performed in partnership with our diverse members; people who, like you, come to our organization to share their knowledge, expertise, and experiences with the goal of improving stroke care and outcomes for all.
We would especially like to highlight the success of landmark programs such as the World Stroke Congress, the World Stroke Campaign, the International Journal of Stroke, and the Future Leaders programme.
We have grown our membership significantly to include health professionals and stroke support organizations. I am also proud of our achievements in global policy to improve the prevention, treatment, and care of stroke.
We look forward to seeing what the next the 15 years will bring to the stroke field and hope that I can count on your participation in this journey.
On behalf of the WSO leadership, Board, and Secretariat, we would like to thank you for being such a valuable member of this organization!
Stay safe and I hope to see you soon again.
