While WSO remains committed to its apolitical stance and primary focus on advancing healthcare and stroke science, we are watching with profound sadness and horror at the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, a direct result of the appalling terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israeli civilians on October 7th.
This conflict severely threatens the safety and well-being of the affected population. It disrupts critical healthcare services in the war zone, including stroke care. Every human life is invaluable, and we also extend our support to the non-combatant civilians in Gaza who are facing significant hardships due to recent events. They deserve protection, as is the right of civilians everywhere.
We hope for a peaceful resolution, the swift release of the hostages, the provision of essential medical care, and the delivery of aid to all civilians on both sides. We must address the immediate human suffering and the potential consequences on vital healthcare services in the affected areas.
