Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. While there have been major advances in acute treatments for stroke care, access and availability remain limited. WSO is working with our members, policy makers, partners and stakeholders to advance access to stroke treatments that can transform outcomes for individuals, improve healthcare system efficiency and accelerate progress on global health and development goals. The time to act is now.
WSO held the first stroke focused global policy event during the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva. United in Action to Transform Stroke Care brought together global and national policy makers, clinical experts and stakeholders to examine the impact of stroke on global development and national healthcare systems and to explore key challenges, opportunities and strategies to improve and accelerate access to gamechanging acute stroke treatments. The policy launch event was supported by Philips, with the participation of the Minister of Health and Well-Being for Jamaica and the 2nd Vice President of Costa Rica.
