Training

I got my degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2017 cum laude at the University of Perugia. My academic journey deepened my fascination with Neurology, guiding me towards a specialization from the University of Siena in November 2022. My thesis on "Recurrent stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation and anticoagulation treatment: the role of add-on therapy with antiplatelets" has been published in the European Stroke Journal and marked my dedication to addressing complex cerebrovascular diseases. During my specialisation in Neurology, I was selected to collaborate with the Emergency Department and Stroke Unit, enjoying the challenge of being a contributing part of the stroke team. I specialized in ultrasound techniques focused on cerebrovascular diseases through attending of two ultrasound teaching courses and obtaining Italian Neurosonology Certification in November 2021. I am actually in the first year of my PhD programme at the Stroke Unit at the University Hospital of Perugia.

Professional

Since July 2023 I have worked as a clinical neurologist at the Stroke Unit of Perugia University Hospital where I cultivate my passion for managing cerebrovascular diseases and researching, being an active part of the Stroke team and researching secondary stroke prevention. I am advancing my expertise in the intersection of technology and medicine through a PhD program at the University of Perugia.

I am active in several Italian and international scientific societies, such as ISA, SIN, SINSEC, ESO, WSO and their young sections.

Research areas

My research focus concerns secondary stroke prevention in several categories of patients and acute treatment and management of acute ischaemic stroke.

My current PhD project explores the revolutionary use of Artificial Intelligence in diagnosing and managing acute strokes within emergency settings.

I took part in several international clinical randomized control trials as sub-investigator and study coordinator: “PRESTIGE-AF” (NCT03996772), “OCEANIC-Stroke” (BAY 2433334), “BRIGHT” (NCT05403866)”. I also collaborated in several prospective international studies.

Publications

I have two publications as first author regarding acute stroke treatment in different categories of patients (atrial fibrillation and cancer patients). I am a co-author of different papers regarding secondary stroke prevention and risk of stroke recurrence in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Private

I live in the countryside of a small town near Perugia, with my husband and my daughter, who was born in July 2024. I love the countryside and the contact with nature. I love travelling with my family, especially towards mountain destinations where we practice different sports. As an Italian person, I can’t help but say that I love good food and wine. I enjoy rock and soul music and I am a fairly good piano player.
